RESEARCH IN COMPUTER ARCHITECTURE

Michael J. Flynn

Abstract:

Efficient processor implementations require complex architecture tradeoffs among a number of competing considerations (cycle time, register set size, cache size, instruction set capability, etc.). Concurrent techniques can be used to speed up processors both by achieving increased pipelining of the processor operations and by realizing efficient multi-processor architectures.
