Subject: STANFORD "Travel Reservations on the Internet Program" (TRIP) Date: Tue, 4 Jun 1996 13:53:38 -0700 (PDT) From: flopro@popserver3.stanford.edu (Nancy Florence) Colleagues, I bring to your attention one system that might be of interest to you: TRAVEL RESERVATIONS ON THE INTERNET PROGRAM (TRIP) web site address: http://covillage.stanford.edu/trip/ Below is a description of what this internet program can do for you in making airline reservations. It is connected to the American Express Travel Agency on campus: Stanford Travel Reservations on the Internet Program (TRIP) provides an easy-to-use interface and a direct line to the Apollo real-time travel reservation system via the internet. This is the same system used by over a third of the world's travel agents. By using TRIP, you'll be able to view all the flights available that conform to your desired travel itinerary. From there, you can quickly find the most convenient and least expensive flights available and book them online. You'll also be able to make all your hotel and car arrangements using the same system. You now have access to the same information as your travel agent right on your screen, any time you want. You'll never have to wait for your travel agency to open to check flight availability or to book a flight. You'll never have to waste time with busy signals or overworked travel agents rattling off the seemingly endless list of flights available over the phone. You'll never have to wonder if a cheaper or more convenient flight is available. Now all the information is yours. The fares shown by our system are the lowest published rates available given the flight preferences you indicate and, when applicable, reflect discounts negotiated by Stanford. But even if you don't find the best deal yourself, our trained travel agents will look over your booking to make sure you're not missing out on any savings. It's a very simple process. Really. Log on. Set up a personal profile. Input your desired flight information (where you're flying from, where you're flying to, what time you want to leave, etc.), then review the flights available. Choose your flight(s) and click "Book It." One of our travel agents will call you to confirm your flight plans and collect payment and delivery information from you. The tickets will then be delivered to your door (often the same day). Get on the plane. Sounds good! Stanford is eager to have this system tested. SO....., I offer this information in case you have an opportunity to try it.
