The Synfinity Interconnect: A Low Cost Infrastructure for Building High Performance Multi-Processors Chris Wilson Computer Architect Fujitsu System Technologies, a Business Unit of HAL Computer Systems. EE385B Computer Architecture Seminar April 14, 1999 This talk introduces Fujitsu System Technologies (FJST) and its primary product, Synfinity. Synfinity is a low cost, high performance interconnect with 1.6Gbyte/s/direction bandwidth per link and 42nS router fall through time. Synfinity connects to standard interfaces, such as PCI and Intel processor busses, allowing low cost, scalable servers to be built using standard high volume (SHV) components. First, I will describe the network architecture, including our recently announced Synfinity II physical link which transmits at 1.25Gbit/s/wire. Secondly, I will describe the architecture of our shared memory (CC-NUMA) system, the Teamserver M831i, which connects up to eight Intel Pentium II Xeon processors running Windows NT.
